his hub is another attempt on sharing my experience in stitching Anarkali churidars, pattern two. This Anarkali is a frock like dress, with umbrella cut pattern starting from the chest. It is usually done with flowy materials like chiffon. Since it was my first trial, I had done it with Poly cotton material.

This type of Anarkali is to be done with brocade cloth in the chest portion and flowy material in the later portions, that is where the flair has to come. Now I had stitched using poly-cotton in the flared portion.


There are many types of Anarkali suits seen. If you do some googling, you will find a variety of designs and patterns. Now coming to this pattern. It was one of my friend, who gave me her Anarkali churidar to me to experiment with.

It was made out of colorful brocade and net material. I was very eager to stitch the same but, preparing for the same was a tedious process when compared to stitching , simple churidars. We need to make some effort to create the flair. Anyway it was a great experience and here is my experience, I'm going to share with you guys.. Hope you will enjoy...

Cutting the pieces

The Top portion

From the red brocade cloth, I had measured the top portion, by matching the length from that of the pattern (my friend gave me her Anarkali I got. Again lining material also cut along with the measurement of the top portion.

Sleeves

From the poly-cotton , green material, the sleeves are measured, along with lining and cut the same. Make sure you make room for the red brocade piping at the sleeves.

The Umbrella portion

First fold the poly-cotton green material into four, now mark the pieces as shown in the picture below and then stitch it back carefully and later mark the width needed and mark a curved portion in the top and measure equal length from each portion and cut the same.. Like wise cut the lining for the same also.
